Dutch gambling regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has appointed Ronald Prins to chair its advisory board. Prins replaces Arthur Docters van Leeuwen, a former chairman of the Dutch Financial Markets Authority who has opted to step down from the board. Dutchman Prins is well known in the country for co-founding computer security solutions provider Fox-IT and serving as its CEO for more than 18 years, before selling the business in 2015. Prins currently holds positions on the Dutch Electoral Council and Dutch Safety Board, and also sits on the review committee for the Intelligence and Security Services Act. In his new role with the KSA, Prins will advise on gambling policy and regulation in the Netherlands, after the country’s Senate passed the Remote Gaming Act last month, paving the way for the roll-out of new, national iGaming laws. “In the task that the KSA now faces, many of my interests come together,” Prins  said. “There are administrative aspects to regulating a market; how do you develop conditions that create an attractive, legal market that ensures illegal providers are pushed aside? “And of course you also have the IT and security aspects. It is an interesting and exciting job. I hope to be able to help the other members of the advisory board.” The KSA will play a key role in preparing rules and regulation for the country’s iGaming market, including new player protection measures. Last week, the KSA launched a consultation to gather opinion from the industry and various other stakeholders about its plans. Other members of the KSA advisory board include Theo Schuyt, professor of Philanthropic Studies at VU University Amsterdam; Han Moraal of European Union jjudicial co-operation agency Eurojust; Dike van de Mheen, director of Tranzo, scientific centre for care and welfare at Tilburg School of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Tilburg University; and Peter Kuipers, chairman of Dutch public broadcaster KRO-NCRV.
